How The Study Boards helps

How The Study Boards helps you with your CAAPID application

The Study Boards takes you through CAAPID from your board score to your interview, and our faculty are with you at every step:

  • Master the CAAPID Application: personal statement, letter review and CV, a 45-minute strategy session with Dr. Trehan, 3 mock interviews and WhatsApp support for the whole cycle.
  • INBDE Premium Boards: faculty-created modules, 35,000+ questions and nightly live tests at 9 PM New York time, so your board result is ready before your program deadlines.
  • TOEFL iBT Course for Dentists: one focused 45-day cycle for the TOEFL score every CAAPID program asks for.

Our courses are extremely personalised: red lines and assignments are given to you on the go, the course learns from the way you study, and faculty are there to assist you. See our full plan.

How to log in to ADEA CAAPID

ADEA CAAPID is the one application internationally trained dentists use to apply to most US Advanced Standing (International Dentist) programs that lead to a DDS or DMD.3

Open the official linkGo to caapid.cas.myliaison.com in Chrome or Firefox. Liaison names these two as the preferred browsers. Safari and Edge work too. Internet Explorer does not.12

Enter your email and passwordUse the email address you created the account with. Passwords are case-sensitive.5

Note your CAS IDOnce you are in, your CAS ID number sits in the top-left corner, under your name. Write it down. Customer service asks for it first.518

Returning from last cycle? Click Start ReapplicationUse the same account. A welcome screen asks you to start the re-application. Do not create a new account.6

Lock the door behind youUnder My Profile, then Privacy and Security, you can change your password and turn on two-factor authentication with any standard authenticator app.13 Do it. Your application holds your passport details, transcripts and payment history.

Tick as you go

Your CAAPID application step tracker

Tap each step when it is done. The bar fills as you go. Nothing is saved, so treat it as a checklist for this session.

8 steps from DENTPIN to a Complete application

In the order ADEA and Liaison recommend: account and academic history first, submission at least 6 to 8 weeks before your earliest deadline.4

Steps done: of 8

All 8 done. Now check each program’s own supplemental application and fee, which are separate from CAAPID.

How to create your ADEA CAAPID account

Before you start: have your DENTPIN ready. ADEA states that every applicant must have one to start a CAAPID application.2 If you are not sure whether you already have one, read our DENTPIN guide before you register a second one by mistake.

Click Create AccountOn the application home page at caapid.cas.myliaison.com.5

Fill in the required fields and accept the termsUse your legal name. If you have only one name, put it in the matching field and type FNU for an unknown first name or LNU for an unknown last name. Use a personal email you check often.5

Complete the Extended Profile pageThen click Save and Continue.5

Select at least one programYou cannot create the account without choosing one. Use the filters on the left. You can add or remove programs any time before you submit.5

One account onlyLiaison deletes duplicate accounts and every document attached to them.5 If a transcript evaluation or score lands in the duplicate, you lose it.

Inside the application

The 4 sections of the CAAPID application

The application has four core sections: Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting Information and Program Materials.7 Tap a section to see what goes in it.

Personal Information

  • Agreement statements: read and accept ADEA CAAPID’s release statement.
  • Biographic information: name, sex, date and place of birth. Your date of birth must be here for official test scores to match your application.10
  • Contact and citizenship: the address programs will use, your country of citizenship, residency and visa status.
  • Other Information: this is where you enter your DENTPIN, the languages you speak, any licence infraction and any relatives in oral health.7

Spell your name exactly as it appears on your INBDE and TOEFL records. A hyphen or apostrophe that differs stops scores from posting automatically.10

Academic History

  • Colleges Attended and Dental School Details: every college and your dental school and degree. ADEA requires all college, university and graduate transcripts.3
  • Credential evaluation (ECE or WES): foreign transcripts are not accepted on their own. You need a course-by-course US equivalency report from ECE or WES, sent electronically. Order it from inside the application: Colleges Attended, then Academic Records, then Order next to your dental school.8 Each program may prefer one service, so check the Program Finder. Our WES vs ECE guide and credential evaluation checklist walk you through it.
  • ADA standardized tests: say whether you have taken or plan to take the INBDE or NBDE. Most CAAPID programs require National Board results.3 Request them on the ADA site with your DENTPIN and pick ADEA CAAPID as the recipient. They arrive within five business days.9
  • TOEFL: self-report your score and Test Registration ID, then have ETS send official scores to code B451. TOEFL iBT and the Home Edition are both accepted. Paper copies are not.10

Supporting Information

  • Evaluations (letters): you can list up to 3 evaluators. They upload their letters through Liaison Letters, typed on official letterhead and signed. Some programs want more than 3; check Program Materials.14 See who to ask for letters.
  • Experiences: dental work, employment, research, teaching, volunteering and more, with hours per week and a supervisor who can verify it. You can star up to 4 as most important. Do not count the same hours twice.15
  • Achievements, Licenses, Other Relevant Information: awards, your dental licence and anything else relevant. There is no section for CE certificates; programs ask for them separately if they want them.3
  • Personal statement: one general essay that goes to every program, up to 5,200 characters including spaces. Formatting is stripped, so separate paragraphs with a double return. It cannot be edited after you submit.16 Read our personal statement guide first.
  • Documents: upload your dental degree diploma and an official US translation, scanned into one file.17

Program Materials (program selection)

  • Each program you selected shows its own deadline, requirements, questions and documents here.7
  • This is where programs that want a CV or resume ask for it. There is no general CV upload button. See our CAAPID CV guide and how to enter CV details step by step.
  • Most Advanced Standing programs also charge their own supplemental fee, paid directly to the school.11
  • Research every program in the ADEA CAAPID Program Finder. Not all Advanced Standing programs use CAAPID, and some have citizenship or residency conditions.

2026-2027 fees

How much the CAAPID application costs

ADEA CAAPID charges $264 for the first program and $115 for each additional program.211 You pay by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover inside the application. No phone payments, checks or cash.

Example: 5 programs

First program$264
4 more programs x $115$460
CAAPID total$724

Example: 10 programs

First program$264
9 more programs x $115$1,035
CAAPID total$1,299

Refunds are rarePrograms can see your application the moment you submit, so refunds are not normally granted. In special circumstances you can send a written request within 30 days of the cycle ending.11 Choose programs carefully before you pay. For the full cost of applying, including ECE or WES, TOEFL and supplemental fees, see what it actually costs to apply.

Fix it fast

Common CAAPID login problems and what to do

Most “I can’t log in” problems come down to one of these.

I forgot my password

Click “Forgot password?” on the login page, enter the email on your account and click Submit. You will get a reset email. Customer service cannot see or tell you your password.5 Your new password needs at least 8 characters with a number, a capital letter, a lowercase letter and a special character. Check your spam folder if the email does not arrive.

The login page does not recognise me

Check you are on caapid.cas.myliaison.com, not ADEA PASS, ADEA AADSAS or a look-alike site. Each service has its own login. Then check the email address. If you signed up with a university email, note that Liaison warns some schools disable student emails after graduation.12

I applied last cycle and now I see the wrong cycle

Log in with your existing account. You keep the same CAS ID. A welcome screen asks you to click Start Reapplication. You then choose to start fresh or copy data. That choice cannot be undone.6

Personal Information, Academic History, Experiences, Achievements, Licenses and your diploma can be copied. Letters, the personal statement, Program Materials and payments cannot. Transcripts and ECE or WES evaluations carry over for up to three cycles.6 Copying usually takes minutes but can take a few hours; contact customer service if it takes more than 24 hours.

I accidentally created two accounts

Stop using the newer one and contact customer service at once with both email addresses and your CAS ID. Duplicate accounts and the documents linked to them are deleted, so make sure your evaluations, scores and letters are all attached to the account you keep.5

The page will not load or keeps spinning

Use the latest Chrome or Firefox, and allow cookies, JavaScript and pop-ups. Clear your cache or try another browser. Public Wi-Fi can slow the application down.12 Close to deadlines, pages can load slowly, so do not leave payment to the last hour.

My INBDE or TOEFL scores are not showing

Your DENTPIN and date of birth must be in the application, and your name must match the score record exactly. Contact customer service if INBDE scores are missing four weeks after your test date, or TOEFL scores three weeks after, once you have confirmed the ADA or ETS actually sent them.910

Where CAAPID fits

CAAPID is one route. Here are all of them.

After the boards, an internationally trained dentist has four main routes in the US.

CAAPID

Advanced Standing (IDP)2 to 3 years to a US DDS or DMD, applied for through ADEA CAAPID. ADEA describes CAAPID as the application to Advanced Standing programs that result in a DDS or DMD.3

PASS

AEGDAdvanced Education in General Dentistry, applied for through ADEA PASS. Some states give a limited licence after it; the rules vary by state.

PASS

Residency directlySpecialty residencies through ADEA PASS. Possible, but more competitive for internationally trained dentists.

Teach

TeachingFaculty roles at US dental schools, another way to build a US dental career.

On cost, the honest pictureAdvanced Standing usually costs roughly $250,000 to $450,000 all-in. Almost everyone finances it with loans: private loans, co-signer loans with a US citizen or green-card holder, and a few international lenders that need no co-signer. It is a big number, and people manage it every year. Not sure which route is yours? Read CAAPID or PASS: how to pick.

When does the CAAPID application close for 2026-2027?
The last day to create an account, submit and request evaluations is January 29, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET. Many programs have earlier deadlines, so check each one under Add Program.
How much is the CAAPID application fee?
$264 for the first program and $115 for each additional program in the 2026-2027 cycle. Most programs also charge their own supplemental fee.
Do I need a DENTPIN before I log in to CAAPID?
ADEA says every applicant must have a DENTPIN to start a CAAPID application. You enter it in the Other Information section, and it is also how your INBDE results reach CAAPID.
Can I submit before my ECE or WES evaluation arrives?
Yes. You can submit before transcripts, evaluations and scores arrive, but CAAPID will not verify your application until your official transcripts and fees are received.
Can I change my application after I submit?
Only partly. You can update your name, phone and email, add new experiences, achievements, licences, test scores and programs, and change evaluators that are not yet complete. Your personal statement and existing entries are locked.
