The INBDE Study Plan (2026): A Month-by-Month Schedule That Matches the Real Exam
A good INBDE plan does three things in order: it makes you learn the concepts, practise them in the INBDE style, and rehearse the real two-day exam before test day. Here is the exact order our students follow, the pace that fits your life, and what every day and week should look like.
Set your exam date around the plan
Pick your date by working backwards from a realistic plan, not the other way around.
Book too soonYou sit the exam before your weak areas are ready, and a retest means a 60-day wait and a new fee.1
Book too lateYou lose momentum and tire out. Most of our students are ready in three to four months of full-time study.3
Register when the plan is setOnce you are approved, you have six months to sit the exam,1 so register once your plan has a finish date. See INBDE registration step by step.
Pick your pace
The order of study never changes. Only the speed does.
Weeks 1-4: foundation (sections 01-02).
Weeks 5-8: practice by subject and diagnosis (sections 03-06).
Weeks 9-10: revision and full-syllabus tests (sections 07-08).
Weeks 11-13: Grand Tests and both 2-day simulations (section 09).
Month 1: foundation (sections 01-02).
Month 2: practice by subject (sections 03-04).
Month 3: diagnosis, foundation knowledge areas and revision (sections 05-07).
Month 4: full-syllabus tests, Grand Tests and both 2-day simulations (sections 08-09).
Follow the 6-month plan for full-time students: the same sections, with a buffer month built in at the end.
Follow the 6-month plan for working dentists: short daily windows on workdays, protected blocks on days off for Grand Tests and simulations.
The four phases of INBDE preparation
Month by month: the 4-month plan
The pace most full-time students follow. Stretch each row if you choose a 6-month plan.
| Month | Focus | Course sections | Goal for the month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Foundation | 01 Basics, 02 Master Files | Every subject read once; light, untimed questions to check understanding |
| 2 | Practice by subject | 03 Master Test Series, 04 Cumulative tests | Every subject tested; a running list of weak topics |
| 3 | Cases and revision | 05 Diagnosis Series, 06 Foundation Knowledge Areas, 07 20-Day Revision Series | Case-based questions feel normal; weak topics closed |
| 4 | Exam mode | 08 Full-Syllabus Tests, 09 Grand Tests and 2-day simulations | Two full simulations sat and reviewed before test day |
| Daily | Speed and habit | 10 Daily Test Series, 11 Rapid Fire, 12 nightly live test | Timed practice every day from week one |
Your daily routine
This weekly rhythm is our suggestion, not a fixed rule. Working dentists should follow the 6-month plan for working dentists.
Review every mock the right way
The review matters more than the score. Sort every miss into one of three buckets, because each needs a different fix.
“I did not know it”Go back to the Master File for that topic, then redo questions on it within the week.
“I misread the case”Slow down on the stem: underline the age, history, medications and what the question actually asks.
“I ran out of time”More timed sets, Rapid Fire and full-length practice. Speed comes from repetition, not rushing.
What structure does to your result
The official 2025 numbers show how many international dentists need a second attempt.2

Show up on the bad days too
Motivation comes and goes for everyone. The students who pass do not rely on it: they keep the daily plan small enough to do on a bad day, and they just show up. A little every day beats a lot once in a while, especially if you are studying around a job or a family.
