How to Enter CV Details on CAAPIDup — Step-by-Step Guide
CAAPIDup’s CV Structuring Software replicates your input exactly as you type it. Mentors do not verify spelling, capitalisation, or date formats — those appear on your final CV unchanged. This is the step-by-step rule set to get it right the first time.
CV GuideThe 9 rules to follow before you submit
Each rule prevents a specific common error. Click any to jump straight to the detailed example.
The CAAPIDup CV Structuring Software is built around one principle: accuracy and consistency are non-negotiable. Every detail you enter is replicated on your CV exactly as you type it — spelling, capitalisation, dates, all of it. Mentors do not catch typos for you; the system does not catch them either.
Below is the operational rule set. Each one prevents a common error we see in finalised CVs.
Spelling and Grammar
Precision matters — even small typos affect impression.
Be extremely careful when entering names of universities and locations.
- Correct: University of California, Los Angeles · Incorrect: University of Califronia, Los Angeles
- Correct: University of Toronto · Incorrect: Univeristy of Toronto
- Correct: Aga Khan University, Karachi · Incorrect: Agha Khan University, Karachee
- Correct: Tehran University of Medical Sciences · Incorrect: Tehran Univercity of Medical Scienses
Your name at the top of the CV should reflect correct capitalization. Correct: Dr. T · Incorrect: Dr. T trehan.
Date Format
Consistency is key.
Use only mm/dd/yyyy for full dates and mm/yyyy when only month and year are requested.
- Correct: 04/23/1992 · Incorrect: 23/04/1992
- Correct: 05/07/1989 · Incorrect: 5/7/1989
- Correct (Month/Year): 09/2023 · Incorrect: 9/23 or 2023-09
Chronological Order
Most recent first — every section.
Arrange entries in reverse chronological order for both education and work experience.
- Work: 2021–Present (Clinic A) → 2019–2021 (Clinic B) → 2017–2019 (Clinic C)
- Education: 2023 (Master’s) → 2020 (Bachelor’s)
Maintain one consistent format (e.g., mm/yyyy – mm/yyyy) across all entries.
Descriptive Sections
Two bullets. Two lines each. No exceptions.
Each section must include exactly two bullet points, each two lines long. Keep them factual and concise:
- Assisted in complex restorative procedures; maintained chairside efficiency for high patient turnover.
- Implemented infection control protocols; standardised sterilisation workflow across operatories.
Apply the same rule to Awards, Honours, Work History, and Volunteer Services.
CE Courses
Selective — quality over quantity.
List only accredited, meaningful Continuing Education courses that strengthen your dental credentials. Include advanced, recognised programs by professional dental bodies.
Avoid listing free or introductory online modules (Google, Colgate, etc.). Each CE course entry should still follow the “two bullets, two lines” rule.
Licenses
State or national — official only.
Enter details of any official dental license obtained from your country’s or state’s dental board, including license number and issuing authority.
Certifications
Keep it relevant and measurable.
Include clinical or emergency certifications such as BLS or ACLS with short, measurable bullet points:
- BLS (AHA) completed mm/yyyy; regularly applied emergency drills in clinical practice.
- ACLS certification; coordinated monthly mock-code sessions for staff readiness.
References
Align with your LOR providers.
List referees corresponding to your LOR providers. Include their designation, department, and institution:
- 1 Dean
- 2 Professors who have taught you
Punctuation and Capitalisation
The professional finish.
Correct: Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, Karnataka, India
Incorrect: manipal college of dentals sciences mangalore karnataka india
