The Master the CAAPID Application course is The Study Boards’ long-running admissions program for internationally trained dentists pursuing U.S. Advanced Standing dental schools. It runs for one full application cycle (twelve months) and bundles every part of the application that needs faculty oversight — from the first paragraph of your personal statement through the final mock interview after a school invite lands.

Below is the operational breakdown of each module — what is delivered, who delivers it, how long it takes, and what is included versus optional.

The personal statement module covers two scenarios: you do not yet have a draft, or you do. Either path is run by the same five-faculty bench, but with different first steps.

Option 1 — Full draft creation

If you are starting from zero, the faculty team begins with a structured questionnaire — values, formative experiences, the driver behind your move into U.S. dentistry. From your responses, our bench of five mentors collaborates on a first draft that reflects your voice and journey. Initial draft delivers within 45–60 days, followed by an iterative review cycle with you until the statement truly lands.

Option 2 — Edit & refine an existing draft

If you already have a draft, the bench restructures and tightens it. We start by reviewing what you have, asking clarifying questions to surface gaps, and then refining for impact, sequence, and U.S. admissions tone. Enhanced version delivers within 45–50 days.

You provide your three letters of recommendation. The Study Boards faculty bench reviews each one and returns constructive suggestions — clarity, strength, and alignment with what U.S. dental admissions committees actually want to see.

The recommended combination — and the one with the strongest signal — is:

• One letter from your Dean (mandatory). If your Dean also taught you clinically, the letter can count for both.
• One letter from a Professor who taught or mentored you in your dental training.
• One letter from a U.S. practicing dentist you shadowed. This single letter does outsized work — it signals direct exposure to dentistry in the U.S. system.

Alternatively, three letters from your Dean and two Professors will also meet CAAPID requirements. The final decision to incorporate our edits sits with you and your recommenders.

The CV is the spine of your application — every other component references it. The Study Boards has developed a standardised CV format that has been reviewed and accepted by multiple U.S. dental school admissions committees. The format is appropriate for 99% of IDP / Advanced Standing programs (a few schools, like UOP, run their own house format and are not customised for).

You work directly with Dr. Kaur to organise everything you enter into the portal into the approved CV template. You also receive detailed in-portal instructions on how to enter each section correctly.

Accuracy is non-negotiable

If a date, school name, or course code is wrong, the faculty cannot catch it for you — they assume what you submitted is accurate. Build your entries from official transcripts, employment letters, and CE certificates. Faculty handle structure and presentation; accuracy is on you.

Once your CV and personal statement are finalised, you book a dedicated 1:1 with Dr. Trehan. The session runs about 45 minutes over Zoom or phone (your choice) and focuses on identifying ways to strengthen your overall profile before submission.

What gets covered:

• Areas of your CV or personal statement that can still be sharpened.
• Continuing Education (CE) courses worth pursuing for your goals.
• Whether bench-test exposure is necessary for your profile — and which programs are most appropriate if so.
• Strategic advice on positioning your unique journey for admissions committees.

The interview is where strong files either land or fail to. The Mock Interview Drills module is designed to help you present your story with confidence, clarity, and authenticity — under real conditions with experienced mentors who have guided hundreds of applicants successfully.

What’s included

Your package includes three full interview sessions with Dr. Slesnick and Dr. Trehan:

• Two pre-invite sessions — exposure to a range of possible interview styles and question patterns.
• One post-interview reflection — debrief your real interview, strengthen weak areas, prepare for the next opportunity.

Scheduling flexibility

Schedule in whichever sequence works for you. Our recommendation is to complete two sessions before any dental school invite and reserve the third for after you receive an interview call. Alternatively, you can wait for a specific invite and tailor the drills around it.

Supplementals are program-specific and tend to surprise applicants. Several schools require an additional essay or scenario response on top of the central CAAPID file. These are often the difference-maker between a strong general application and an admit.

Supplemental application support is an add-on to the Master CAAPID program — not included by default — but available for any school you receive a supplemental from. Each supplemental is treated with the same iterative drafting process as the main personal statement.

Once you enrol, the modules are sequenced to build on each other — CV is grounded first, then the personal statement is argued from it, then letters of recommendation go in (your recommenders need the CV and PS in hand), then the profile review with Dr. Trehan once everything is in place, then mock interview drills, then supplementals as invites land. The cycle runs for twelve months from enrolment.
