You Are a Dentist Working as a Hygienist. Here Is How to Prepare for the INBDE Around Your Clinic Schedule

You already hold a dental degree from your home country. Today you work as a dental hygienist in the United States or Canada, and every study hour has to fit around patients, shifts and life. Our program is built to move at your speed, so the exam stops feeling like a second full-time job.

Your situation

Working in dentistry, but not yet licensed as a dentist

Many internationally trained dentists work as hygienists, assistants or in other dental roles while they build the path to a US dental licence. Your hands-on experience is real. The exam, though, tests the whole of dentistry, in the way a board examiner frames it, and you are studying in the gaps between patients.

Time

Your hours are not yoursClinic days run long, schedules change, and a plan that assumes a free evening every night breaks in week two.

Gaps

Some subjects are daily work, others are notYou may chart periodontal findings and take radiographs every day, and rarely touch endodontics, prosthodontics or oral surgery.

Format

The exam asks differentlyBoard-style questions test judgment and sequence, not just recall. Hands-on skill does not automatically translate into answering them.

Working in Canada? The INBDE is the United States exam. If your route is Canadian, the national exam is the NDEB, and the first one is the AFK. Read our guide to the NDEB bridge training pathway, then prepare with our AFK blueprint. Many dentists keep both doors open with our INBDE and AFK combo.
What makes it different

A program that adjusts as you go

Most courses hand you a fixed calendar on day one. Ours is personalised around you. Your schedule is not frozen at the start: it responds to how fast you move and how you perform.

Step 1You work through a subject cardEach subject arrives as a card with its tasks, a start date and a due date, so you always know what is next and by when.
Step 2You finish at your own speedFinish a subject in two days instead of five, and you do not wait for the calendar. Your next tasks arrive with new deadlines.
Step 3Your results shape what comes nextYour pace and your performance in the previous subject set the deadlines for the next one. The program is adjusted according to your requirements, not the other way round.

What you actually do

Three stages, the same for every student

Whichever plan you pick, every subject follows the same path, so nothing is skipped.

1

Modules: your basicsA Module our faculty wrote for every subject. You learn it easily, see how it will be taught, and understand why it matters. See what a Module looks like.

2

Master Question FilesTopic by topic, you see what is tested in each subject and how a topic could be tested in your examination.

3

Master Test SeriesExhaustive tests on every concept, then Grand Tests, Daily Tests, Rapid Fire and a live test every night at 9 PM New York time.

Every section of the course is laid out in the INBDE blueprint, with the order, the purpose and what to expect in each.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Can I really study around a full clinic schedule?
That is what the plans are for. Choose the length that matches your week, and the schedule adapts to your speed and your results as you move through the subjects.
Does the 3-month plan leave anything out?
No. You receive all the teachings of the longer plans. The only difference is the pace and the schedule.
What if I finish a subject early?
Your next tasks arrive with new deadlines, set by your speed and your performance in the previous subject.
Is my hygienist experience useful for the exam?
Yes, your clinical exposure helps you understand the subjects it touches. The exam still tests every area of dentistry in board-question format, which is what the Modules, Master Question Files and Master Test Series prepare you for.
Does the guarantee apply to every plan?
The Pass Guarantee applies to our 3, 6 and 12-month plans, with the conditions above.
