INBDE + AFK Combo on 2 Hours a Day: A 6-Month Plan Built Around Real Life
You do not need a free day, a quiet house or a full-time study schedule. If you can protect about two hours a day, in one block or in pieces, the combo program is paced to fit. Here is exactly how it is structured and how to use it.
Two hours is a real plan, not a compromise
Most INBDE advice assumes eight free hours. This plan assumes the opposite: a household to run, children or family to care for, a job, or all three. The six-month access window exists for exactly this, because the same 12 sections simply stretch over more calendar time.
Built from small piecesRapid Fire (60 seconds a question), the Daily Test Series and the Task for the Day all fit into 10 to 20 minute windows.
Study when the house allowsNap time, school hours, late evening. Everything except one nightly Live Test can be done whenever you are free.
Mentors you can write to at any hourThe Queries and Help Section is written and answered personally, so you never need a matching schedule to get help.
One program, two pathways
Many students take this route because they want to keep both doors open: the Canadian pathway through the AFK, which challenges your competency for the NDEB equivalency process, and the United States pathway through the INBDE. The combo is built as a single blueprint, so one body of preparation serves both exams instead of two courses running side by side.
The Canadian routeThe Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge is your first competency challenge on the way to the Canadian pathway. The course adds a stronger clinical-application focus for it.
The United States routeThe INBDE is the national board exam for the US pathway. Its Foundation Knowledge Areas and clinical-case reasoning are built into the same sequence.

What does your two hours look like?
Pick the pattern closest to your day.
Use the block for deep work, the gaps for speed
Spend about 75 minutes on Master Files or the current test series, 30 minutes on a Daily Test and Rapid Fire, and 15 minutes reviewing mistakes. Keep the 9 PM Live Test as your one fixed appointment.
One focused session, then the Live Test
Do your main study hour first while you are fresh, then the nightly Live Test, then 20 minutes of Rapid Fire to finish. Because the Live Test is at 9 PM New York time, check your local time once and set an alarm.
Match the task to the window
Rapid Fire and the Daily Test Series suit 10 to 15 minute gaps. Save Master Files and Diagnosis cases for the longest quiet stretch you get. Your Task for the Day keeps the pieces connected.
Short weekday touches, long weekend sessions
Do the Task for the Day and Rapid Fire on weekdays so momentum never breaks, and put the heavy sections on weekends. Book childcare ahead for the 8-hour Grand Tests in the final stage.
The 6-month map at 2 hours a day
About 2 hours a day over six months is roughly 360 hours. This is The Study Boards’ own suggested structure, and your mentor can adjust it to your real weeks.
How faculty stay in touch with you
Queries and Help SectionAsk whenever you have the question. A mentor answers you personally, one to one, so you do not need to match anyone’s calendar.
Your progress is watchedRankings against 350+ peers are automatic. Landing in the last 50 is a signal for mentors to step in and adjust your plan.
