UAB’s International Dentist Program admits fewer than 20 candidates each year. The live Zoom interview is where the committee decides who belongs in that class. We prepare you with two focused mock-interview sessions led by faculty who know exactly what UAB is looking for.
What UAB’s interview actually evaluates
The UAB IDP interview is not a casual conversation. It is a structured evaluation where the admissions committee scores you across several competency areas. Understanding what they are measuring is the first step to performing well.
They present clinical scenarios and assess how you think through diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management. Your thought process matters as much as your answer.
UAB trains dentists who will treat patients from day one. They evaluate whether you can explain clinical concepts clearly, listen carefully, and present yourself as a trustworthy clinician.
Why UAB? Why now? They want to hear a specific, honest answer that shows you have researched the program and understand what makes it different from other IDP pathways.
Expect questions about challenges you have faced, how you handled failure, and what you learned. The committee is looking for emotional maturity and resilience under pressure.

Over two dedicated sessions, you will rehearse the exact format and question types used in UAB’s IDP interview. Each session is a live, one-on-one mock interview followed by detailed feedback.
We assess your baseline interview skills, identify weak spots, and build a structured framework for answering clinical-scenario and behavioral questions. You will leave this session with a clear action plan.

When should I book relative to my interview date?
At least three days before your scheduled UAB interview — that is the minimum. The more lead time you have, the better. Extra days let you internalize the feedback, practice on your own between sessions, and walk in fully prepared.
Do I need to have my CAAPID application finished first?
No. Interview preparation is a separate track. You can start sessions before, during, or after the application process.
How are the sessions conducted?
Both sessions are held over Zoom. You will receive a calendar link after booking.

What if I am applying to multiple IDP programs?
These sessions are tailored specifically to UAB’s interview format. If you are preparing for other programs as well, let us know and we can discuss a broader preparation plan.
