Mastering Bench Test Preparation
A focused, step-by-step virtual course for international dentists. This intensive covers the
most commonly tested preparations with daily timed mock tasks and expert grading aligned with dental school rubrics.
Duration
6 days · Daily mock tasks
Format
Live Zoom demos + hands-on practice
Post Course

Course Overview
Built to mirror how dental schools teach, time, and grade bench tests.
Focus on
preparations
Every session targets the exact hand skills programs.
Step-by-step demonstrations
Dr. Kaur demonstrates the full sequence.
Daily timed mock tasks
A set task based on the previous day’s topic.
After-course support
Submit photos for 10 included evaluations; additional reviews are available as add-ons.
- All study materials are provided. Students must arrange their own armamentarium (instruments and supplies).
What You Will Learn
A curated sequence spanning foundational to advanced fixed preparations.
Class II Amalgam Preparation
Outline, depth, axial and pulpal wall form, proximal box design, margins, and common rejection errors.
Class II & Class III Composite Preparations
Conservative access, bevel rationale, contact management, finish lines, and isolation considerations.
Full Gold Crown Preparation
Functional cusp bevels, occlusal reduction, taper, axial wall height, finish lines, and path of insertion.
PFM Crown Preparation
Metal-ceramic design, shoulder-chamfer transitions, porcelain support, and biologic width respect.
All-Ceramic Crown Preparation
Material-specific reduction, internal line angles, finish line selection, and fracture prevention principles.
Bridge Preparation
Abutment selection basics, common occlusal schemes, axial alignment, and connector considerations.
6-Day Course Schedule
Each day includes a live demo, guided practice, and a timed mock task graded to school standards.
Sequence & Daily Structure
| Day | Focus | Live Demo & Guided Practice | Timed Mock Task & Grading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Class II Amalgam Preparation | Step-by-step cavity outline, depth, proximal box; error avoidance checklist. | Single Class II prep within set time; graded on outline, depth, wall form, and proximal integrity. |
| Day 2 | Class II & Class III Composite Preparations | Minimal access design, bevel strategy, contact management, finish lines. | Composite prep task (Class II and/or III) under time; graded on conservation, margins, and form. |
| Day 3 | Full Gold Crown Preparation | Occlusal reduction sequence, functional cusp bevels, taper, and finish line execution. | FGC prep timed; graded on reduction, convergence, finish line continuity, and surface integrity. |
| Day 4 | PFM Crown Preparation | Facial porcelain support, shoulder-chamfer transitions, and porcelain/metal thickness planning. | PFM prep timed; graded on margins, taper, and structural durability for porcelain support. |
| Day 5 | All-Ceramic Crown Preparation | Material specific reduction protocols, rounded internal angles, and finish line selection. | All-ceramic prep timed; graded on reduction amounts, internal geometry, and margin quality. |
| Day 6 | Bridge Preparation | Abutment alignment strategy, common errors, and connector design considerations. | Two-abutment prep under time; graded on path of insertion, parallelism, and margin integrity. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Key details at a glance.
Is the course focused only on preparations?
Yes. This course covers preparations only—no restorative steps—exactly aligning with bench test evaluation priorities.
How do the daily mock tasks work?
Each day you’ll receive a task based on the previous day’s topic with a set time limit. Your work is then graded using criteria similar to those used by dental schools.
What do I need to bring?
We provide study materials and checklists. You must supply your own armamentarium (e.g., handpieces, burs, typodont, mounted teeth, and mounting pole).
What support is available after the course?
You can submit photos for 10 included evaluations. If you need more, additional evaluations are available as paid add?ons.
